'An Opry Salute to Ray Charles' Featuring Darius Rucker, Boyz II Men & Chris Young Set for Oct. 8

The live performance can be taped for a PBS particular airing in November.

An Opry Salute to Ray Charles will tape Oct. Eight at Nashville’s legendary Grand Ole Opry. 

Hosted by Opry member Darius Rucker and that includes Boyz II Men, Cam, Brett Eldredge, Leela James, Lukas Nelson, Allen Stone, Travis Tritt and Chris Young, the live performance can pay homage to to the enduring R&B artist, airing on PBS in November. 

The PBS particular may also function behind-the-scenes footage, a go to to the Ray Charles Library and uncommon video of the legendary artist, courtesy of the Ray Charles Foundation.

In 1962, Charles recorded the groundbreaking Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, which featured the singer decoding nation, people and western requirements, corresponding to Hank Williams’ “Hey, Good Lookin’” and “You Win Again,” in addition to Don Gibson’s “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” The album spent 14 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart (then named Billboard Top LPs). Charles carried out on the Grand Ole Opry in 1963. 

“When you consider musical legends, you consider Ray Charles,” stated Rucker, in a press release. “To host this nice occasion celebrating his legacy on the Opry makes it much more particular.”

Tickets for An Opry Salute to Ray Charles go on sale Sept. 20 at opry.com.
