The Witcher 4 — Cinematic Reveal Trailer | The Game Awards 2024 – YouTube

Promotional logistics—including world-class reveals, social media campaigns, and presence at major events like The Game Awards—are expected to claim the other half of the budget. Given the immense labor required to produce cinematic trailers and the costs associated with multi-year global press tours, these projections seem highly plausible in the current gaming landscape.
This is the same studio that recruited Hollywood icon Keanu Reeves for Cyberpunk 2077, establishing a precedent for high-profile star power that doesn’t come cheap. For context, The Witcher 3 cost around $81 million total, while the comprehensive costs for Cyberpunk 2077 reached roughly $400 million.
While The Witcher 4 is shaping up to be a financial behemoth, the franchise has grown significantly in stature, bolstered by the success of the Netflix adaptation. Interestingly, Chrzanowski also predicts that we haven’t seen the last of the current saga, hinting at new The Witcher 3 content later this year—a surprise move that could set the stage for Geralt’s grandest transition yet.
Meanwhile, the creator of a Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod is considering a free release following a DMCA notice from CD Projekt Red, despite frustrations over unauthorized distribution and “punishment” pirating.
