While InXile—and Fargo’s storied career—are synonymous with top-down RPGs, Clockwork Revolution represents a significant evolution in perspective. “We take great pride in our isometric role-playing games,” Fargo noted. “They are highly regarded, though the style can often be seen as a more niche experience in the broader gaming landscape.”
Explaining the move to a first-person view, Fargo added, “We experience reality through our own eyes every day, so there is an inherent immersion in a first-person perspective that resonates with a wider audience.”
However, Fargo clarified that this shift doesn’t diminish his love for traditional formats. “Isometric games offer unique advantages, but for Clockwork Revolution, we wanted to fuse our technical expertise in the Unreal Engine with deep RPG reactivity and high-end cinematic storytelling to create a world that feels truly alive.”
First unveiled in 2023 with a follow-up appearance at last year’s Xbox Game Showcase, Clockwork Revolution remains one of the most anticipated titles in development. While Microsoft hasn’t pinned down a concrete release date yet, fans are hoping for a detailed update on this time-bending adventure in the near future.
