The gunsmoke and ghouls of the wicky-wicky wah wah bizarre bizarre west are the setting for the debut game from a studio based by some Arkane veterans, introduced tonight at The Game Awards. It is called merely Weird West and sure, it’s daring to yoink a longtime fiction style’s title in your game. Weird West is an immersive sim-y action-RPG setting out for adventures stuffed with rootin’, tootin’, and spookin’. Have a peek within the trailer beneath.
It’s made by WolfEye Studios, a brand new crew based by two fellas from Prey and Dishonored devs Arkane: long-time inventive director Raphael Colantonio and former govt producer Julien Roby.
Details are skinny for now however publishers Devolver Digital name it an immersive sim and blast this blurb:
“Discover a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures. Journey through the origin stories of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land. Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken – a series of high stakes stories where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into an otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own.”
So it feels like a roguelikelike action-RPG? It’s bought an overworld map and all:
And calling it an immersive sim implies stunning alternatives and behaviours to find play with? I’m listening.
No phrase on a launch date but nevertheless it’s coming to Steam.
