QuakeCon 2021 is again an online-only affair, beginning Thursday at 2 p.m. with a panel discussion of the event’s namesake game, Quake, which looks to be getting a re-release for modern platforms in time for its 25th anniversary.
All of the proceedings will be carried live via Bethesda Softworks’ official Twitch; an embed is above.
As far as new and upcoming releases, the only forthcoming game on the QuakeCon panel schedule is Deathloop, launching Sept. 14 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Quake is also slated for an hourlong discussion beginning at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Friday. Host John Linneman of Digital Foundry will be talking with Jerk Gustafsson of MachineGames, so perhaps that studio has something in store for the franchise.
And perhaps for your amusement, on Thursday at 4 p.m. EDT is a half-hour panel on “Reliving the Opening of Skyrim with the Creators from Bethesda Game Studios.” The much-memed intro to the 2011 RPG was back in the news just this week, as a developer revealed how a single bee thwarted BGS’ early efforts to set the table.
