Welcome to our 81st Ready or Not Development Update, dated December 20th, 2024!
We look forward to reconnecting with you with additional development insights in 2025! As our team takes a well-deserved break over the holidays, we wanted to offer a special ‘debriefing’ through heartfelt messages to you— our dedicated community— from everyone at VOID Interactive.
We are profoundly thankful for the amazing support you have extended to Ready or Not since our launch in December 2023, as well as for your enthusiastic reception of the Home Invasion and Dark Waters updates released thereafter. It’s gratifying to conclude on a high and eagerly anticipate an even brighter future for Ready or Not and our community in the coming year!
Note: These development briefings keep you informed about select aspects of our ongoing support for Ready or Not. However, they do not encapsulate every project we are currently undertaking. Please be aware that the content in our development briefings remains a work in progress and is open to adjustments.
Our team has endeavored to apply lessons learned from our 1.0 and Home Invasion rollouts to enhance the Dark Waters Release. Our approaches in communication, coordination, and iteration reached new heights, integrating quality assurance, narrative crafting, engineering, animation, game design, playtesting, level creation, audio, art, production, operations, partnerships, marketing, and more.
We have diligently monitored numerous community posts and reviews, capturing feedback and issues, ensuring your voices are integral to our development process.
Without further delay, here are some messages from our team members to our esteemed community as we step into the new year:
As the Art Director for Ready or Not, I’m continuously inspired by our extraordinary, passionate, and supportive player base. Indeed, our game’s fans are our greatest motivation, and I am genuinely grateful for the chance to create new content for you every day.

I want to commend the tremendous work our Engineering team undertook this year.
Both our in-house developers at VOID Interactive and our development partners have made significant contributions to achieving this update and advancing the game throughout the year. Each member has been instrumental in delivering an exceptional end product within the designated timeline.
Their cross-disciplinary collaboration with external teams such as Design and QA has been inspiring, especially while navigating the complexities of remote work across diverse time zones.
In recognizing our team’s efforts, and in anticipation of future advancements, I am certain there is ample opportunity to continue enrich RoN as we look forward.
― Kobe Taylor, Programming Team Lead
Being part of this outstanding community has been one of the best experiences for me. Thank you all for contributing to such a positive and encouraging atmosphere! Wishing everyone a splendid end to the year and looking forward to meeting you all in multiplayer sessions!

Hello, it’s Dan, VOID’s SWAT Technical Advisor. It’s been a rewarding year working with the team to bring exciting content to Ready or Not. From the start, my goal has been to ensure authenticity while adhering to the creative visions making RoN enjoyable.
We still have more work, with several revisions and adjustments on technical details, plus future content to come—but wow, what strides we’ve made!
It’s gratifying to find fan commentary online that aligns with my suggestions, knowing our team is developing thoughtful solutions while maintaining RoN’s unique style. Here’s to 2025!
― Dan, SWAT Technical Advisor

Wow, what a year! I extend my sincerest thanks to our incredible team for their dedication and hard work throughout 2024. Following a remarkable 2023 was no small task, but I’m fortunate to work alongside such exceptionally talented individuals who achieved it with us. Huge gratitude also goes to our community; your attention, feedback, and support make a real impact. Your critique, praise, suggestions, modding, and countless hours of shared content are what make RoN truly special.
This year started with clear objectives: refining 1.0 release content, adding new features, and initiating work on new DLCs.
As the year unfolded, our team grew. This growth necessitated better processes, which, while challenging at times, set the stage for long-term improvements. Growth leads to subtle, foundational changes that bolster our team. We emerged more robust from this journey.
2024 was a year focused on continuous refinement—for the game, our team, and our update releases. Thanks to this commitment, each release saw fewer issues, greater QA emphasis, and stronger production methods, culminating in the successful DLC 2, Dark Waters, a testament to our evolution as a team and as individuals.
Reflecting on our Steam Early Access days, where we often rushed deadlines, pushing content without adequate QA or structured timelines, the transformation is significant. Though that era allowed for rapid experimentation, it came at a cost to content quality and team well-being, often resulting in late-night patches to amend issues raised by players.
Today, I am exceedingly proud of our progress. I am thankful our workflow has improved to a point where post-release, we can close Jira boards, log off Slack, and truly relax.
Thank you all for a truly memorable 2024. We have thrilling plans ahead for Ready or Not and VOID Interactive. This journey is nowhere near its end. We’re just getting started.
― Stirling Rank, Game Director
