The indie development scene is set to push boundaries once again with UN:Me, a haunting “liminal” horror title from SHUEISHA GAMES and historia Inc., scheduled for a PC-exclusive launch in 2026.
Players step into the shoes of a young woman confined within a surreal mental maze. Her consciousness is shared with the spirits of four deceased individuals, each haunted by their own unresolved grief and conflicting motivations.
A central gameplay mechanic revolves around involuntary personality shifts, where these spirits can commandeer the protagonist’s body at any moment. These takeovers disrupt the player’s control, forcing them to adapt their strategy as the available actions change. The emotional trauma of each soul also bleeds into the environment, distorting visual perception and movement, turning the labyrinth into a living manifestation of psychological distress.
By engaging in “Dialogue” mode, players can interact with the resident souls using found objects to piece together their histories and unearth hidden secrets. Ultimately, players must face a staggering choice: fight to retain their own identity or surrender their existence to one of the four entities. The developers highlight that these profound emotional dilemmas will lead to a variety of unique endings.
