The year 2025 has proven to be a landmark for Nintendo, highlighted by the June launch of the Switch 2. The console’s flagship debut, Mario Kart World, achieved phenomenal success, moving over a million digital copies in Japan within its first month alone. Other major contributors to the Switch 2’s early success include Kirby Air Riders, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
Meanwhile, the original Switch ecosystem maintains a strong presence, with evergreen favorites such as Minecraft, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons continuing to dominate the charts.
Looking ahead, Nintendo is set to maintain its momentum well into early 2026. The Switch 2 release calendar looks packed, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons scheduled for January, Mario Tennis Fever arriving in February, and Pokemon Pokopia slated for March. Furthermore, players can look forward to significant third-party ports, including the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Yakuza Kiwami 3.
