John Legend recently commemorated his 47th birthday with a whimsical family excursion in New York City. On Sunday, December 28, the acclaimed musician, alongside his wife Chrissy Teigen and their four children, fully embraced the spirit of play by getting “slimed” at the Sloomoo Institute.

Teigen offered fans an inside look at the colorful celebration via Instagram, uploading highlights of the family navigating the museum’s interactive, tactile installations. “One last thing before we leave NYC 🥹 we love you @sloomooinstitute!” she shared in the caption.

The EGOT recipient was captured beaming alongside his brood as they explored various sensory exhibits. This birthday milestone served as the grand finale to a whirlwind holiday season for the family. Just weeks prior, Legend and Teigen took their children—Luna Simone (9), Miles Theodore (7), and toddlers Esti Maxine and Wren Alexander (both 2)—to witness Disney on Ice at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where they enjoyed a private meet-and-greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

A Milestone on the Charts

Beyond the domestic festivities, Legend is currently basking in a significant professional triumph. His collaboration with Tasha Cobbs Leonard, titled “Church,” recently ascended to the summit of the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart. This achievement marks Legend’s debut at No. 1 on this specific ranking, while simultaneously extending Cobbs Leonard’s record with her 10th chart-topping single.

Reflecting on the success of the track, Legend noted that his musical journey began in the sanctuary. “I grew up singing and playing in the church,” he explained. “Consequently, I hold a profound reverence for the heritage of gospel music. To see ‘Church’ reach the pinnacle of the Gospel Airplay chart—and to earn my inaugural Grammy nomination in the Gospel category—is a truly humbling blessing.”

The acclaimed single is currently in contention for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the upcoming Grammy Awards, which are scheduled to be broadcast on February 1.
