Towerborne is officially preparing to graduate from Early Access. Stoic Studio has announced that the definitive version of the game will launch on February 26, 2026, alongside a massive 1.0 update that fundamentally overhauls the gameplay loop and content distribution.
Published by Xbox Game Studios, the title is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PC (via both Xbox and Steam), and PlayStation 5, and will be included in the Game Pass Ultimate and Premium tiers. In a significant shift for the project, the developers have moved away from the free-to-play model and the requirement for a constant internet connection.
The development team noted that the past year was dedicated to refining core mechanics to ensure a more accessible and engaging experience. The 1.0 release introduces a full narrative campaign featuring a central antagonist, new side quests, a revamped job board, two additional bosses, and a “Brutal” difficulty level for seasoned players. Furthermore, the update expands the world map with a coastal biome, adds fresh combat skills, implements a forge system for gear modification, and features an original score by Austin Wintory. Notably, microtransactions have been removed entirely, allowing players to earn all cosmetic items through gameplay.
The transition to version 1.0 marks the culmination of Stoic’s extensive collaboration with its player base, whose feedback throughout the Early Access period has been vital in shaping the final vision of Towerborne.
