While some view a 30% cut as “predatory,” certain sectors of the industry impose even steeper commission rates.
Electronic Arts recently unveiled a dedicated storefront for The Sims 4. Operating as a community marketplace, this platform will allow creators to monetize and sell their custom modifications directly to players.
To facilitate these transactions, The Sims 4 Marketplace will utilize a proprietary virtual currency known as “Moola.”
Creators on the platform will receive a 30% share of the revenue. They are expected to earn approximately 30 cents for every 100 Moola that players spend on their custom content.
The Sims 4 Marketplace is scheduled to launch on March 17 for PC and Mac, with a release for consoles anticipated in the following months.
