Netflix Releases Teaser and Sets Premiere Date for Steampunk Western Bass X Machina
Netflix has released the official teaser for the upcoming animated series Bass X Machina, setting a worldwide premiere date of November 3, 2026. All episodes will debut at once, following a near-month delay from an earlier planned launch on October 6.
Inspired by Bass Reeves, one of the first Black US Deputy Marshals, the series takes place in an alternate Old West where outlaws clash alongside mechanical contrivances and supernatural beings. The story follows Bass, a family man who serves as judge, jury, and executioner in his fight to keep his loved ones safe. The teaser highlights Bass wielding a mechanical arm against robots and rival gunfighters, alongside distinct inventions like a mechanical bull and an overhead suspended train.
Brian Tyree Henry voices the title character and serves as executive producer. The voice cast includes Janelle Monáe, Tati Gabrielle, Cree Summer, Chaske Spencer, Currie Graham, and Starletta DuPois.
Bass X Machina was created by LeSean Thomas, whose previous credits include The Boondocks, Black Dynamite, Yasuke, and Cannon Busters. South Korean animation house Studio Mir, known for work on X-Men ’97 and Devil May Cry, produces the animation.
