Digital Foundry Finds Strange Castlevania Issue as PS5 Pro Performs Worse Than Base PS5
Digital Foundry has found that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse runs at 1080p on PS5 Pro, while the game looks better on a standard PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Konami’s PS5 Pro version of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has image quality that looks noticeably worse than both the Xbox Series X version and the standard PS5 version.
Digital Foundry’s specialists noted that the visual problems are visible even in the demo, which anyone can download for free from the PS Store. Players encounter the graphics issues before buying the full game.
Digital Foundry found that the game runs at 1080p on PS5 Pro instead of the expected 4K.
On PS5 Pro, it’s standard 1080p, not 4K. That means the game is broken on PS5 Pro. The game got an “anti-PS5 Pro” patch, and that’s not how it should be.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was released on October 15. The graphics issue on PS5 Pro has not changed since then. The developers have released several updates in recent weeks, but none has fixed the problem. As a result, owners of Sony’s most powerful console still get a worse image than players on the standard PS5.
