Usopp Rewrites History in Trailer for LEGO One Piece Special
Netflix has released a trailer for the animated special LEGO One Piece, scheduled to arrive as a two-episode project on September 29, 2026. The release is designed to introduce new viewers to the franchise ahead of the live-action show’s third season.
Along with its LEGO aesthetic, the special features an unusual narrative framework. Usopp acts as the story’s narrator, retelling the Straw Hat crew’s journey through the East Blue and the Grand Line to Tony Tony Chopper while exaggerating key events and placing himself at the center of the action.
Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Tom Hyndman explained that Usopp was selected as narrator specifically because of his habit of embellishing stories:
“We wanted to help new viewers get acclimated to the massive world of One Piece while also giving longtime fans a fresh and fun look at the familiar events of the first two seasons.”
Cast members from the live-action One Piece series reprise their roles, including Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, and Michaela Hoover. Hyndman noted that the actors’ familiarity with their characters gave them greater freedom to improvise during voice recording sessions.
Atomic Cartoons, The LEGO Group, and publisher Shueisha are producing the special. Chelsea Ker directed the project, with original manga creator Eiichiro Oda serving as an executive producer.
