Valve is continuing to improve the technical state of Steam.

The company recently released a Steam update that included improvements to “improve performance when launching the client.” Valve then released a beta update that continues the work on speeding up app launch and begins testing fixes for several bugs.

Valve said it has completed a second stage of optimization for Steam launch speed. It also fixed cases where the “Steam Service Error” dialog box appeared by mistake when users quickly exited or restarted Steam.

Voice chat volume settings for other participants now persist between Steam sessions instead of resetting on restart.

On Linux, Valve fixed a bug that caused games using Vulkan to freeze after switching windows with “Alt + Tab.” It also fixed a bug that prevented some native games added to Steam as “third-party” titles from launching.

Valve also introduced a specific Steam Input fix for the sports simulator NCAA Football 27 (EA Sports College Football 27). Players had previously complained that the controller configuration was not applied when the game launched.

Valve did not say how long it plans to test this Steam update. The company also introduced an updated version of the achievements interface.
