At Amazon, Grand Theft Auto VI is trailing a Nintendo release in preorders. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 is ahead of the new GTA game on the retailer’s listings.

Preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI are available beyond the PlayStation Store and Xbox stores. Various retailers also sell a “physical” edition (a box with a code), and some of them share purchase statistics.

Users recently noticed the statistics on Amazon, where The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 is also available for preorder. The original Nintendo 64 version received a 99 out of 100 on Metacritic, and the service included it on its list of must-play games.

According to Amazon’s statistics, between 60,000 and 100,000+ preorders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were placed “in the past month.” The range of the data is wide.

The figures for Grand Theft Auto VI are more modest. The PlayStation 5 version is listed as “more than 9 thousand copies sold,” and the Xbox Series X|S version as “more than 3 thousand copies in the past month.”

That puts Grand Theft Auto VI at five to eight times fewer preorders than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Amazon. The figures cover only one store, and both GTA VI and Zelda are sold on many other platforms. Some analysts believe that total preorders for GTA VI have already passed 6 million copies.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
