Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Remaster Launches December 8 on PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2, Free for Existing Owners
A remaster of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5, will launch on December 8, 2026. Owners of the older versions will receive it for free.
The overlooked game will arrive in an updated edition on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Owners of the PS4 and Xbox One versions can upgrade at no cost.
Developer Panache Digital Games, a studio founded by the creator of the first Assassin’s Creed games, will move the project from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. The developers promise improved optimization, a photo mode, and new narration in the style of a professional documentary. The update will also include changes meant to make the gameplay more comfortable.
The original game received mixed reviews for its repetitiveness and awkward controls, though it showed clear potential. The updated version may appeal to fans of unusual survival games, especially those who already own the original.
