The theatrical release of Top Gun: Maverick is pushed back, from Thanksgiving all the way to Memorial Day weekend — May 27, 2022. That means that the Top Gun-themed expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator is delayed as well. The announcement was made Friday on the game’s official website.
“Paramount Pictures recently shifted the release date of Top Gun: Maverick to Memorial Day weekend, May 27, 2022,” wrote developers from Asobo Studio and Xbox Game Studios. “As we have previously announced, the Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator for Windows 10 PC, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass will be released alongside the movie. We look forward to sharing more information in the future.”
Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann hinted at a possible delay in August. Speaking with Polygon about his team’s new content roadmap, he said that there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and the ongoing surge of the delta variant. Other pieces of content currently remain unaffected. That includes World Update 6, with enhancements for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, which goes lives on Tuesday Sept. 7.
