If you’re into He-Man, your cup runneth over with new shows. There’s the recent Masters of the Universe: Revelations, which is a much more subversive take on the He-Man canon. But if you prefer something a little more family friendly, this new CG cartoon looks like it might just be up your alley. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an upcoming show announced on Thursday, and it is set to premiere on Sept. 16, 2021 on Netflix.
The trailer shows Prince Adam, who’s just a little guy, pick up his iconic sword and give the line “By the power of Greyskull, I have the power!” Then he becomes He-Man, which allows him to battle his foes. The trailer also gives us a good look at Skeletor, as both a normal looking guy and a skull-faced monster man. It’s all pretty standard fare if you’re into the He-Man canon.
Animation for the series is done by House of Cool and CGCG, which worked on Trollhunters and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, respectively. The show has been developed by Rob David, who also worked on Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and produced by David, Frederic Soulie, Adam Bonnett, and Christopher Keenan.
