The narrator of Baldur’s Gate 3 used their animal psychology knowledge to craft the “feral, visceral, animalistic” voice of the Dark Urge

The voice star behind Baldur’s Gate 3‘s storyteller states their history in pet psychology assisted them locate Dark Urge’s “feral, visceral, animalistic” voice. 

In a meeting with PC Gamer, Amelia Tyler spoke about their duty in the Larian RPG and exposed exactly how they located the Dark Urge’s voice. “I am very much the voice of the [Dark Urge’s] bloodlust,” Tyler describes, “of that feral, visceral, animalistic, want to tear the world apart with your teeth.” The darkness originates from the star’s unanticipated history in pet psychology, Tyler informs the electrical outlet: “I did a lot of animal studies.” 

After comforting us that they examined exactly how pets act in the wild versus exactly how they act in bondage – which they weren’t “in a lab, attaching electrodes to things” – the Baldur’s Gate 3 actors participant includes: “There was a lot of that which got mimicked in Dark Urge. “It’s tapping into something more primal in that character, it’s not necessarily someone else’s voice. It’s the part of you you might not like,” the star describes. Channelling their internal pet reaction isn’t also the strangest point Tyler has actually needed to do when servicing the RPG. In a behind the curtain video clip, the game’s storyteller exposed: “Dancing eye spiders is the most normal thing I’ve done all day.”
