Take-Two financial report: two words about GTA 6, GTA and RDR sales, Online figures

During the Investor Call, Take-Two Interactive summed up the results of the last quarter of the 2022 fiscal year and reported on their latest successes. It was not worth expecting something extraordinary from the report – if it contained really valuable information, then the developers would have concocted an announcement in advance so that there was no leak. So what was Zelnik and Co talking about?

Development of GTA 6 in progress

T2 is confident that Rockstar Games will set a new bar for the series, the gaming industry and the entertainment industry in general. We do not doubt.

Sales of GTA 5 and Grand Theft Auto

gta 5 demonstrates stability – it was again sold 5 million times in last three months. The total sales of the series are 380 million copies. In turn, this means that the same GTA: Trilogy – Definitive Edition is no longer interesting to customers – its result does not change much, and is approximately equal to 10 million.

As for the mobile port of the re-release of the Trilogy, it is now scheduled for the new fiscal year, that is, its release may take place during the current calendar year or at the beginning of the next (2023).

GTA Online and GTA+ are on the rise

The report notes that in GTA Online there are now 49% more players than before the pandemic. BUT donation purchase 36% more new console owners than PC, PS4 and Xbox One players.

It certainly affects gta+, which remains exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners. According to Zelnik, the demand for the service “continues to grow”, although the paid subscription itself has existed for less than 5 months.

Selling RDR 2 and Red Dead Redemption

For the quarter, Red Dead Redemption 2, as usual, added one million. And with a result of 45 million, she took a clean 9th place in the list best selling games of all time (in it, the “five” will occupy the second position for a long time – “Tetris” from EA simply will not catch up with it, and GTA 5 itself will be incredibly difficult to keep up with Minecraft with its 238 million). In this way, RDR series reached 68 million copies sold.

R* may well improve the western’s performance if it does release a full-fledged version of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. But fans of Red Dead Online nothing to be happy about – only “costumes, bonuses and rewards” are promised. No more themed additions.
