Steven Spielberg has officially confirmed that one of his upcoming cinematic endeavors will be a Western. The legendary filmmaker shared the news during an appearance at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
Despite a distinguished career spanning over five decades, this project will mark Spielberg’s directorial debut within the Western genre.
“I can’t reveal much at this stage, but I am developing something truly spectacular. It features horses and guns, but I can promise you it will steer clear of traditional tropes and clichés. We are moving away from the usual stereotypes,”
Spielberg remarked. While the director first alluded to his Western ambitions back in 2021, fans are currently looking forward to his next sci-fi venture, “The Day of the Disclosures,” which is slated for release on June 12.
