Spotify’s signature Best New Artist showcase is set to make a triumphant return for the 2026 Grammy Week, reclaiming its status as one of the most prestigious events on the industry calendar.

The gathering was notably absent in 2025. Following the devastating wildfires that swept through Los Angeles, Spotify made the decision to scrap its entire slate of programming, choosing instead to redirect event funds toward local wildfire relief efforts. Now, with a renewed sense of purpose, the streaming giant is preparing for a grand comeback.

A Full Lineup of Emerging Stars

On Wednesday (Jan. 21), Spotify confirmed that the upcoming festivities, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, will feature live sets from all eight of this year’s Best New Artist nominees. The 2026 class represents a vibrant cross-section of the modern musical landscape, featuring:

  • Addison Rae
  • Alex Warren
  • KATSEYE
  • Leon Thomas
  • Lola Young
  • Olivia Dean
  • sombr
  • The Marías

In addition to the Spotify showcase, this talented cohort is also scheduled to perform during the primary Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday, Feb. 1.

“This event has navigated numerous iterations, through various formats and realities,” Joe Hadley, Spotify’s Global Head of Music Partnerships & Audience, told Billboard. “Despite the changes, the heart of the event remains the same: showing up for artists at a defining moment in their professional journeys.”

A Legacy of Resilience and Artistry

Hadley emphasized that reviving the in-person celebration reflects the resilience of the music community. “We’ve learned how to be nimble and pivot while ensuring these moments remain impactful,” he noted. “Being back in the room together to celebrate this next generation of talent feels truly special.”

Since its 2017 debut—which featured only two performers, The Chainsmokers and Maren Morris—the event has evolved into a cornerstone of Grammy Week. Today, it is a high-production affair that demands extensive coordination and deep trust between the platform and the performers.

Hadley revealed that the party’s reputation now often precedes the invitation. “These nominees are among the busiest individuals in the world during Grammy Week. Making this possible required initiating conversations earlier than ever and listening closely to what each artist needed to make their performance feel authentic,” he explained. “Artists now genuinely anticipate the call once the nominations are announced; it’s a partnership everyone is eager to explore.”

Reflecting on past successes, Hadley cited the 2024 event as a particular highlight, specifically recalling how a last-minute shift to bring top fans into the room for Ice Spice’s set transformed the atmosphere. “That shift completely altered the energy, making the night feel electric,” he said. It is that spirit of spontaneous excellence that Spotify aims to capture once again this January.
