<p id="p-intro">Following the news that the *Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time* remake is among six titles recently axed by Ubisoft, the development team has released a formal statement to address the situation and connect with their disappointed audience.</p>
<div id="ad-unit-1" class="ad-unit"></div>
<p>"We want to deliver this news to you personally," the statement shared via <a data-analytics-id="inline-link" href="https://x.com/princeofpersia/status/2014018590396105121?s=20" target="_blank">X (formerly Twitter)</a> begins. "We have reached the difficult conclusion to cease production on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. We understand this is a significant letdown. This project was deeply meaningful to both our dedicated fans and the developers involved."</p>
<a id="elk-seasonal" href="#" target="_blank"></a>
<p class="paywall">"While the vision showed immense promise, we were unable to achieve the level of polish and quality that you expect from us. Continuing development would have required a level of time and resources that we could no longer justify. We ultimately chose not to release a product that failed to live up to the legacy of the original Sands of Time."</p>

<div class="van_vid_carousel"><div class="van_vid_carousel__padding"><div class="van_vid_carousel__container"></div></div></div>
<p class="paywall">"The Prince of Persia franchise remains a vital part of our history and future. This decision does not indicate a withdrawal from the series," the team notes. "We appreciate your enduring passion and loyalty to this legendary brand."</p>
<div id="ad-unit-2" class="ad-unit"></div>
<p class="paywall">In a press release, Ubisoft explained that this remake—alongside five other unannounced projects—was scrapped because it failed to align with the company's "elevated quality standards." This move is part of a "strategic overhaul" designed to streamline the publisher's internal operations and portfolio.</p>
<p class="paywall">Under this new organizational structure, Ubisoft has established five distinct "Creative Houses" to manage its core IPs. *Prince of Persia* has been integrated into Creative House 4, a division dedicated to "narrative-rich adventures and immersive fantasy worlds." This house also oversees iconic series such as *Rayman*, *Beyond Good & Evil*, and *Anno*.</p>
<p>Before its final cancellation, the remake was tentatively scheduled for a 2026 release. Since its initial reveal in 2020, the project has endured a turbulent development cycle, including significant graphical criticism, a move from its original 2021 launch window, and a full internal reboot in 2023. As recently as last year, the studio claimed to be "deep in development," but it appears the sands have finally run out for this particular project.</p>
