The new project from the creators of Arknights and Azur Lane has proven less generous than many expected.
On October 19, Stella Sora — a new action gacha from Yostar, the studio behind Arknights and Azur Lane — launched globally.
In the story, the protagonist named Tiran wakes with no memory and finds himself in an unusual world where fantasy blends with retro-modern aesthetics. He’s accompanied by heroine “trackers” obtainable through the gacha system. Players assemble teams of three characters, tackle procedurally generated stages, and pick randomized upgrades during runs. Beyond the main mode, the game offers duels, bullet-hell boss encounters, and relationship-sim elements.
Yet criticism surfaced on launch day. Unlike many peers, Stella Sora lacks significant starter incentives. Free pulls are almost nonexistent, and the odds of obtaining rare characters appear even lower than in titles like Honkai: Star Rail, making it difficult to begin playing without spending money.
On Reddit and Discord, the game is already being labeled one of the most “greedy” gacha releases in recent years, and players are debating how long it will survive. Some predict it will shut down within five months; others argue the developers likely anticipated this and aimed to maximize revenue from players during the opening days.
The game is available on Android, iOS, and PC. It can be downloaded from the App Store, Google Play, or the official website. To mark the release, the developers released another cinematic trailer, available via this link.
