Slay the Spire 2 Overtakes Valheim and Terraria in Concurrent Player Count

Mega Crit Games likely didn’t anticipate such a meteoric rise, but Slay the Spire 2 has instantly solidified its position as one of the most played titles in the world.

While the original Slay the Spire garnered a massive following, it never quite reached these record-shattering heights on Steam or consoles. It served as a landmark indie success that paved the way for this sequel, which is now driving the community into a frenzy. Following the launch of Mewgenics, this stands as the second monumental indie hit of 2026.

Early reports initially placed the game at 430,000 concurrent players, but Slay the Spire 2 soared to 526,000 in less than 24 hours. This achievement secures its spot as the 20th most popular game in Steam’s history based on peak concurrent users.

This surge has allowed the roguelike to eclipse the peak numbers seen during the Battlefield 6 open beta, as well as lifetime highs for Valheim and Terraria. Nevertheless, it currently sits just behind the benchmarks set by Path of Exile 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Current peak player statistics:

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong — 587,150
  • Path of Exile 2 — 578,569
  • Slay the Spire 2 — 526,793
  • Valheim — 502,387

As the weekend progresses, there is a strong possibility that the title will shatter the 600,000 concurrent player milestone.
