Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt in The Witcher games, has shared a funny story from the run-up to the premiere of Netflix’s The Witcher season 1.

Cockle recalled how Henry Cavill invited him to the London premiere of the Netflix series. In an interview with Ginx TV, the actor admitted that he didn’t believe the message at first and thought he was dealing with a scammer:

“Henry messaged me three or four weeks before the London premiere of the Netflix series: ‘Hi Doug, it’s Henry. Do you want to come to the premiere?’ At first I didn’t believe it was him. I even scolded him a little, because I get a lot of strange private messages. I thought he was probably some weirdo. And then he sent me a photo!”

Once he was sure the invitation was real, Cockle went to the premiere and met Cavill in person:

“He praised my performance and said that the way I voiced Geralt influenced the decisions he made while working on his own role. We had a great chat. I spent the evening with him and his entourage. By entourage, I mean his family.”

Cockle has voiced Geralt since the first The Witcher game, released in 2007. Cavill played the witcher for three seasons of the Netflix series, then handed the role over to Liam Hemsworth.

In early 2026, Netflix included season 5 of The Witcher in its release schedule for the year. In July, however, insiders reported that the premiere had been pushed to 2027. As of mid-October, the streamer has not shown a single frame from the final season or announced a release date, although the delay has not been officially confirmed.
