Pitbull to Transform Childhood Home Site into Global Mr. 305 Headquarters
Pitbull has never been shy about his deep-seated devotion to his “305” roots. Now, the international superstar—famously known as Mr. Worldwide—is solidifying that connection by establishing a corporate footprint on the exact block where his journey began.
The Cuban-American mogul has officially filed development plans to demolish one of his childhood residences in Miami’s vibrant Wynwood district. In its place, he intends to construct a sleek, eight-story headquarters for his music label and multimedia company, Mr. 305 Inc.
The proposed development at 25 Northeast 28th Street seeks to replace a diminutive, two-bedroom cottage built in 1927. While the current structure occupies a mere 700 square feet on a narrow lot, the new architectural vision calls for an 11,200-square-foot tower featuring approximately 9,700 square feet of premium office space, according to documents submitted to the Miami Urban Development Review Board.
A Poetic Return to the Streets of Wynwood
This project represents a profound full-circle moment for Pitbull. He has frequently spoken about his upbringing in Wynwood, long before the neighborhood transformed into a high-end destination for street art and luxury retail. In 2020, during an event just steps from the property, he reflected on the area’s gritty past.
“I lived in Wynwood when they weren’t selling art; they were selling coke and heroin,” Pitbull shared with the crowd. “To be on this stage today, coming from 28th Street and North Miami Avenue, is a beautiful thing. It’s an honor to be back here where no one believed in me.”
The Brickell-based Rilea Group is managing the ambitious development. Project executive Luis Ojeda expressed the firm’s pride in being selected for such a personal endeavor, noting the weight of the property’s history.
“Recognizing the personal significance this site holds for Pitbull, we are approaching this development with immense care,” Ojeda stated. “We look forward to honoring that history while contributing to the continued evolution of Wynwood.”
Building a Miami Business Empire
The new headquarters is the latest jewel in Pitbull’s expanding business crown, which now reaches far beyond the recording studio. At 45, the entrepreneur has become a major player in Florida’s real estate, education, and sports landscapes.
His philanthropic efforts include the founding of SLAM!—a tuition-free charter school network that launched in Little Havana in 2013. More recently, Miami city officials greenlit a deal for a charter school co-founded by Pitbull to take over the historic Olympia Theater downtown, coupled with a $77 million renovation plan.
In 2024, he shattered norms in the sports world by securing naming rights for Florida International University’s football stadium. The five-year, $6 million agreement established “Pitbull Stadium,” marking the first time a musical artist has had their name grace a collegiate athletic venue. “This is history,” he told ESPN. “I’m from the crib. I’m from the bottom. This is my backyard.”
In addition to his real estate and educational ventures, Pitbull co-owns the NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing and recently concluded a high-profile residency at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
