Resident Evil Welcome to Racoon City: 2 trailers, official and alternative to the reboot, it smells like a low budget

After teasing on social networks in recent months, Sony Pictures finally lifts the veil on the very first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccon City, which is none other than the film reboot adapted from the video games of the same name. The film is particularly awaited for the fans, since over the past 15 years, Paul WS Anderson and his wife Milla Jovovich have ransacked the license with episodes of questionable quality and above all that have nothing to do with the title of Capcom. But the new director, Johannes Roberts, to whom we owe 47 Meters Down, has promised a faithful reinterpretation of video games, even to the point of taking some sequences to the letter. If the intention seems to be there, the result is unfortunately not yet at the height of a great Hollywood film. We are indeed closer to the low budget nanar, limit fan film (no offense), than to a film that has been produced with care. Between the second-rate actors with very 90’s acting, the frankly not terrible photo, the makeup and the prostheses a little too marked latex and the very cheap special effects, we have big doubts about the final result.

Oh yes, another detail that may make fans of the series tick: the actor who plays the role of Leon, who gives more the impression of being an D’Artagnan escaped from the 3 Musketeers than of Leon S. Kennedy who ‘we are used to seeing. That said, if the official trailer breathes full-fledged 90’s nanar with a sluggish edit, the alternate trailer offers a different vision. More sober and more horrifying, this second trailer has at least the merit of making its small effect.
