Regard, Troye Sivan and Tate McRae claim the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated June 26) with “You.” The first leader for all three acts, “You” is just the third song to top the chart this year, after Surf Mesa’s “ily” (featuring Emilee), which spent six (of its 17 total) weeks at No. 1 in 2021, and Travis Scott and HVME’s “Goosebumps,” which led for the past 19 frames.
“You” crowns the chart with 16 million radio audience impressions, up 16%; 3.1 million on-demand U.S. streams, up 8%; and 1,900 downloads sold, up 11%, according to MRC Data. The latter sum is also good for a 2-1 ascent on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, where “You” is also the first leader for all three acts.
“You” additionally rules Dance/Mix Show Airplay for a seventh week, extending its reign as the longest serving No. 1 this year. It concurrently improves on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart (8-5), holds on Pop Airplay (No. 18) and debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 (No. 100).
MAKING ‘WAVE’S Shifting to the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, Marshmello starts at No. 3 with Shockwave, earning 5,700 equivalent album units. It’s the masked DJ/producer’s fifth trip to the survey, each a top five entry. His latest follows Joytime (No. 5, 2016), Joytime II (No. 1, one week, 2018), Marshmello: Fortnite Extended Set (No. 1, 20 weeks, 2019; it holds at No. 5 this week in its 124th frame) and Joytime III (No. 1, one week, 2019).
Marshmello also earns seven debuts on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, upping him to 49 career placements; only David Guetta (56) and Kygo (52) have more since the list launched in January 2013. The new set’s title track serves as the chart’s leading debut (No. 11), bowing with 1.6 million U.S. streams and 1,000 sold, also good for a No. 5 entrance on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.
GAGA FOR KYLIE Speaking of Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, Kylie Minogue debuts with “Marry the Night” (No. 3, 1,600 sold). The ties for Minogue’s best position on the chart, which premiered in January 2010, with “Say Something” last August.
“Marry” is a cover of Lady Gaga’s single from her 2011 album Born This Way, which spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums (and ranks at No. 11 this week in its 244th week on the chart). The update is from the 10th anniversary reissue of Born This Way, due Friday (June 25). The new edition sports a “Reimagined” bonus disc with six covers, including Minogue’s “Marry.”
DOLLA CASES IN Dom Dolla banks his first Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 as “Pump the Brakes” speeds 13-5. The track is earning airplay on core-dance outlets, including leaders KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel and SiriusXM’s BPM. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)
Additionally on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, TELYKast’s “Nobody to Love,” with Loren Gray, jumps 15-8, becoming the first Billboard top 10 for each act. Plus, Lil Nas X motors to his third top 10 with his former Hot 100 leader “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” (11-9).
