After GTA 5 became unavailable for Steam Deck owners, the game’s price in Valve’s digital store dropped. Though this change can be called somewhat symbolic (the price for the “fifth” edition has been fluctuating erratically lately). What can’t be considered symbolic, however, is the increase in the cost of Red Dead Redemption 2 this Wednesday.
The game, which previously cost 899 UAH (around 22 dollars at the current rate), has nearly doubled in price. But the strangest part is that for 1,499 UAH (more than 36 dollars), you can buy the Ultimate Edition, while the standard edition is priced at… 2,599 UAH (63 dollars)! It seems they are trying to pitch it as a benefit, saying, look, you pay more but get more, so don’t even consider the regular version. The reason behind this jump is unknown, but there’s speculation that it’s related to the instability of the Ukrainian currency and other countries (about 15) where prices have also risen.
Therefore, it might be worth considering the Epic Games Store. There, the Ultimate Edition of RDR 2 costs the same, but if the additional perks are not necessary for you, the base game with “Online” included is still available for the same 899 UAH. However, it’s best to avoid Rockstar Games stores (on the official website and in RGL) — where for Red Dead Redemption 2, you need to pay 2,599 UAH, and for the Ultimate Edition — a full 3,299 UAH (which is 80 dollars)!
