Psychological horror The 9th Charnel launches in January — cults, rituals, and despair

Publisher SOEDECO and developer Saikat Deb have officially disclosed the launch window for The 9th Charnel, an upcoming first-person psychological horror title. The game is slated for release on January 30, 2026, across PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

The 9th Charnel is an atmosphere-driven survival horror experience that seamlessly integrates stealth, visceral combat, and meticulous exploration. The game world is meticulously crafted so that every shadow conceals a potential nightmare, and every stray sound serves as a harbinger of encroaching doom.

The narrative follows Michael and his colleagues, Sarah Whitlock and Daniel J. Hart—geneticists representing the Epsilon Research Institute. While conducting field studies near a secluded wildlife sanctuary, the team finds themselves stranded within a mysterious valley. Severed from all communication, Michael embarks on a desperate search for his missing friends, only to descend into a macabre reality defined by fanatical cults, forgotten rituals, and malevolent entities.

As the valley’s grim secrets unravel, the struggle for endurance becomes increasingly harrowing. Players must scavenge for essential supplies, manage scarce resources, and make agonizing decisions that will ultimately dictate the fate of the three scientists. While many threats can be bypassed through cunning and evasion, players must be prepared to resort to lethal force when survival is pushed to the brink.
