Red Dead Redemption PC release: features and Undead Nightmare

Rockstar announced the first official PC release of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare in October 2024. Pre-purchase opened before the package launched on October 29, and the live storefront now lists its current availability and price.

What the PC package includes

The release combines the single-player story of Red Dead Redemption with the Undead Nightmare expansion and bonus material from the Game of the Year edition. Undead Nightmare is a separate zombie-horror campaign built around John Marston’s world. The package is not Red Dead Redemption 2, and the official PC description does not advertise the original game’s multiplayer modes.

PC display and control features

Rockstar and Double Eleven added native 4K output at up to 144 Hz on compatible hardware, support for 21:9 ultrawide and 32:9 super-ultrawide displays, HDR10, and full keyboard-and-mouse controls. The actual resolution and refresh rate still depend on the monitor, GPU, connection and chosen graphics settings.

The port also supports NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distance and shadow-quality controls. These options can trade image quality, latency and performance; their presence is not a promise that every PC will reach 4K at 144 frames per second.

PC release on October 29, 2024

Pre-purchase opened on October 11 ahead of the October 29 launch. Steam now distributes the released PC version, while later patches and operating-system changes can alter compatibility beyond the launch specification.

How independent testing framed the port

Digital Foundry’s post-launch technical review found a broad range of options and good scaling beyond the console version, while also noting launcher friction and minor bugs. Windows Central’s announcement coverage independently confirmed the release date, ultrawide support and upscaling features. Current player-specific issues should still be checked against recent patch notes.

The title was announced for the Rockstar Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. Regional availability, account requirements, discounts and refund policies can differ. Buyers should confirm the included edition, supported languages and current system requirements at checkout rather than relying on launch-era merchandise or preorder wording.
