Iconic composer Ennio Morricone lately made headlines following the publishing of an interview in Playboy Germany interview. The article in question asserted that Morricone known as Quentin Tarantino “a cretin” and claimed that his movies had been “trash.” Morricone subsequently launched an announcement claiming he by no means gave the interview or stated these issues about Tarantino, and threatened to take “civil and penal action” towards the journal.
Playboy initially launched an announcement asserting that the interview was official. Now, the publication has back-tracked, with editor-in-chief Florian Boitin issuing an announcement that admits to misquoting Morricone, in accordance with the Hollywood Reporter.
“Up to now, we have considered the freelancer who conducted the Ennio Morricone interview on our behalf to be a renowned print and radio journalist. In the past, we have had no reason to doubt his journalistic integrity and skills,” Boitin stated within the assertion, referring to author Marcel Anders. “Based on the information now at our disposal, we must unfortunately assume that the words spoken in the interview have, in part, been reproduced incorrectly. We would like to express our regret should Mr. Morricone have been portrayed in a false light. We are working to clarify this matter and are exploring legal measures.”
Morricone scored Tarantino’s 2016 movie The Hateful Eight, which earned him the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Score.
