Planet of Lana II developers reveal new trailer and discuss gameplay changes

The Planet of Lana sequel will introduce fresh ways to interact with its world.

Studio Wishfully unveiled a new trailer for Planet of Lana 2 — the follow-up to the atmospheric indie platformer that captured players with its painterly visuals and poignant narrative. In the video, game directors Adam Shernyus and Klas Martin Eriksson outline new mechanics and environmental interactions that form the backbone of the sequel.

The standout addition is a cast of creatures and robots capable of directly altering the surrounding environment. While the first game centered on the cooperation between Lana and her companion Mui, the protagonist will now be able to command other beings with distinctive abilities. For example, the trailer showcases a fluffy, spherical critter that can stick to walls and ceilings, leaving a soft trail behind. It can be used like a fuse — ignite it to trigger mechanisms or open a path forward.

Beyond new creatures, the developers promise refined controls for Mui, greater freedom for exploration, and improved stealth sequences. In action segments Lana will be able to slide, climb, and more.

Embark on an unforgettable cinematic puzzle-adventure with Lana and her loyal companion Mui. Whether you’re already acquainted with the game’s world or discovering it for the first time, numerous revelations await. An ancient secret rises from Novo’s hidden depths, and as the characters press onward the threat intensifies. Their unbreakable bond will be tested, and Lana must confront her destiny within the darkness of the encroaching shadow.
