Lady Gaga has gained the Academy Award for Best Original Song. A Star Is Born’s “Shallow”—co-written by Gaga, Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando, and Mark Ronson—beat out songs by Kendrick Lamar and SZA (“All the Stars,” Black Panther), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (“When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings,” The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Diane Warren (“I’ll Fight”, RBG), Gillian Welch (Buster Scruggs’ “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings”), Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Mary Poppins Returns’ “The Place Where Lost Things Go”), and Diane Warren (RBG’s “I’ll Fight”). Tonight, Gaga can also be up for Best Actress for her efficiency within the movie.
Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s collaboration beforehand took house Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media on the 2019 Grammy Awards. A Star Is Born was nominated for seven different Oscars along with Best Original Song: Best Picture, Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Mixing.
