Olivia Rodrigo gave fans a “Brutal” reminder of how awful the teenage experience can be with the release of her newest video on Monday (Aug. 23), but is easing the pain by providing fans with a sweet behind-the-scenes look at her time filming on set.
Rodrigo posted a photo set of her wearing a pink tutu complete with a black fishnet shawl (matching tights not pictured) to her Instagram Tuesday (Aug. 24). The snaps offer a much more detailed look at the ensemble, compared to the official shot fans got of it in the Petra Collins directed “Brutal” video, where the singer-songwriter is seen falling to her knees during ballet practice.
The snap comes less than a day after Rodrigo shared her first behind-the-scenes look from the video of her donning a futuristic silver two-piece set that consisted of a sleeveless zippered vest and flared bottoms, which were accented with a bright highlighter orange wig reminiscent of Leeloo’s iconic ‘do from 1997’s The Fifth Element.
Rodrigo’s “Brutal” music video continues her 2021 winning streak. The video is currently trending at No. 1 on YouTube Music after the angst-heavy single has so far reached a high of No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and secured the top spot on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Her debut album, Sour, by extension, had all 11 of its songs simultaneously enter the Top 30 of the Hot 100 songs chart, making her the first female artist in the chart’s history to do so.
Rodrigo is set to perform at the MTV Music Video Awards for the first time on Sept. 12.
