Newly Discovered Dialogue Finally Explains Why Cloud Strife Is in Ivalice, 18 Years Later

As documented by Reddit user 47D, if you allow Folmarv to linger in the Mullonde Cathedral Nave for a few turns, he will begin a conversation. During that exchange he questions Cloud for seeming out of place, which opens up an explanation about his presence.

According to the dialogue, this Cloud is actually a construct — a clone (yes, a clone of a clone) created through auracite. The auracite replicated his soul and placed it into a different body, effectively giving Ivalice its own version of Cloud Strife.

It’s a little convoluted but fitting within Final Fantasy’s lore. Many players missed this scene because they defeated Folmarv too quickly: the conversation only begins after the boss remains active for several turns.

If you want to witness it yourself, take it easy on Glabados’ lead knight and let the battle play out. Or you can defeat him and watch the clip — both paths will do the trick.
