‘The Lion King’ Director Roger Allers Dies

Media outlets have confirmed the passing of acclaimed animation director Roger Allers. The visionary filmmaker, best known for co-directing the Disney masterpiece “The Lion King,” was 76 years old.

While a specific cause of death has not been disclosed, Allers’ legacy in the world of animation is profound. Born in New York in 1949, he began his journey with Disney in the 1980s, contributing to the groundbreaking film “Tron.” His exceptional work on “The Lion King” eventually earned him a Golden Globe Award.

His extensive credits also include directing “Open Season,” penning the screenplay for “Aladdin,” and contributing to “The Little Mermaid,” among other classics. Allers’ final directorial project was the 2014 animated feature “The Prophet.”
