Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that Ryan Gosling will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Johnny Blaze, the iconic Ghost Rider. The announcement was made during the studio’s showcase at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

The film will be helmed by director Shawn Levy, who previously collaborated with Gosling on Star Wars: Starfighter. During the presentation, Levy revealed that the casting choice was inspired by Gosling himself, who had expressed a strong desire to portray the legendary anti-hero. Gosling added that bringing this character to life on the big screen has been a long-held ambition of his.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that the project will function as a standalone feature centered on Johnny Blaze, with a theatrical release slated for 2028.

The role of Ghost Rider was previously portrayed on screen by Nicolas Cage, while Gabriel Luna played the Robbie Reyes version of the character in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
