The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set for a strong start
Advance ticket sales for "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" reflect immense audience anticipation, suggesting the film could rake in over $100 million during its domestic opening weekend. This projection comes via World of Reel, citing insights from EmpireCity Box Office analysts who highlighted a surge in consumer demand immediately following the launch of ticket sales on October 28.
Should these estimates prove accurate, the upcoming prequel will match the impressive benchmarks set by the original four films, all of which surpassed the $100 million threshold in their initial US box office run. For context, the 2023 release "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" pulled in $44.6 million during its opening weekend.
Helmed by director Francis Lawrence, the narrative centers on a young Haymitch Abernathy as he enters the brutal arena of the 50th Hunger Games, famously known as the Second Quarter Quell. Joseph Zada stars in the lead role, supported by a stellar cast featuring Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Kieran Culkin, and Glenn Close.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Russian cinemas on November 26, 2026.
