Jamie Dornan opened up about the stress of playing Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings
Jamie Dornan has opened up about his anxieties regarding portraying a young Aragorn in the upcoming movie The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. In a conversation with L’Officiel, as reported by Variety, the actor confessed that he is well aware of the immense responsibility tied to a character so famously brought to life by Viggo Mortensen.
«Stepping into someone else’s footsteps always carries a certain weight. I have been entrusted with a legendary role, and I will pour my absolute best into it»,
— Dornan stated.
At the same time, the star emphasized that he has no intention of competing with Mortensen’s iconic performance.
The Hunt for Gollum is being helmed by Andy Serkis, who will also reprise his career-defining role as the creature Gollum. The cast features returning favorites Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Lee Pace as Thranduil. Meanwhile, notable franchise newcomers include Kate Winslet, Leo Woodall, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The narrative is set in the timeline between the events of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, depicting Gandalf dispatching a young Aragorn on a perilous quest to track down Gollum before Sauron can extract the whereabouts of the One Ring.
The film’s theatrical release is slated for December 17, 2027.
