Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has maintained its stronghold on the North American box office, pulling in an impressive $83.5 million during its sophomore weekend. The epic production has now surpassed $1.17 billion in total global earnings, cementing its status as the highest-grossing film in the director’s illustrious career.

The week’s primary newcomer, the action-thriller “Motor City” starring Alan Ritchson, had a more modest debut than industry experts had anticipated. The film secured second place on the charts, garnering $17.5 million in the U.S. during its opening frame. While analysts noted that audiences responded favorably to the feature, the premiere was somewhat overshadowed by stiff competition at the multiplex.

Rounding out the top three is the horror flick “Her Private Hell,” which bowed with a respectable $14 million. Despite its modest budget, the film enjoyed a strong opening and is well-positioned to become one of the summer’s most profitable genre releases.
