Joe Pablo and Lil Ken are in 240P getting their melancholic crime chronicles off their chest. “My Lifestyle” is my introduction to Lil Ken, but I know this mode is Joe Pablo’s sweet spot—throw the Milwaukee rapper a moody beat and he will wax poetic about trust issues, sometimes presenting things like reality and other times like they’re hypotheticals. “Bae if I got knocked today would you pick up the phone?/And keep money on my books ’til a nigga come home?” Pablo’s delivery is distinct, and his every word has a soulful rhythm to it. In contrast, Lil Ken is much more traditional, but in a way that bounces off Pablo so smoothly.
