CEO Trayle – “Rendezvous”

The most unnerving villainous laugh you’ll hear this week won’t be in the new Batman movie—it’s in the opening seconds of CEO Trayle’s “Rendezvous.” The way Trayle uses his shapeshifting flow to rattle off threats brings to mind the more sinister side of Chief Keef, and like Keef, Trayle is a student of Gucci. He spent his first 13 years in the Bronx, then Alabama, before settling in Atlanta, where his style is truly indebted. “Rendezvous” even has one of those horn-blaring beats that would fit right in on a 2000s Gucci tape (it’s co-produced by longtime ATL staple Dun Deal). Yeah, it’s heavy on influences, but how many rappers could pull off that cartoonish cackle and still make you take the rest of the song seriously? The list is Gucci, Keef, and CEO Trayle.

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
