Kanye West Shares Fiery Music Video For ‘Come to Life’: Watch

Kanye West’s Donda is finally out, after several delays, a trilogy of listening events and the early signs of a beef with the rapper’s record label.

The action doesn’t stop there. Early Thursday (Aug. 2), ‘Ye shared the official music video for album track “Come to Life,” a cut from his final listening session at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

“Come to Life” captures one of the most-talked about moments from the Aug. 26 event, in which a replica of his childhood home is torched as his celebrity chums Marilyn Manson, Travis Scott, DaBaby, Don Toliver, Westside Gunn, and others look on. Meanwhile, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian strolls about in a white wedding dress.

The whole show “felt like a ceremony of epic proportions that came off as either a dramatic funeral, a symbolistic rebirth, and possibly one of the most unorthodox renewals of vows that over 30,000 people witnessed at the stadium,” is how Billboard’s Mark Braboy saw it all unfold.

The release of Donda has been almost as dramatic as the music video. Just hours after its late arrival Sunday morning (Aug. 29) on streaming services, the 44-year-old rapper claimed on social media that the LP was released without his approval by Universal Music Group, the parent company of Def Jam Recordings.

Donda, Kanye’s 10th studio album, raked in over 60 million streams in the U.S. during its first 24 hours on Apple Music, a new 2021 record for the streaming platform. Apple Music is also expected to present an edited version of West’s Chicago listening session for on-demand streaming.
