Intel's neural network was involved in GTA 5

Intel lab staff by example Grand theft auto 5 demonstrated the work of a neural network for processing game graphics.

A team of researchers composed of Stephan Richter, Hassan Abu AlHaija and Vladlen Koltun have published an extensive work called Enhancing Photorealism Enhancement. It is a neural network that enhances the realism of video frames.

In fact, the new product from Intel is deep processing with neural network algorithms, turning game video into a style of street shooting. In the video demonstration, you can note a qualitative change in the images. If you do not take into account some details, such as the animation of pedestrians and objects, the photorealism in GTA 5 is striking in its elaboration.

We offer our enthusiastic readers to get acquainted with the work of the researchers in detail by downloading it from our file archive: Enhancing Photorealism Enhancement – 31 Mb, PDF.

In the meantime, you have not started reading this interesting material, we recall that Rockstar Games will release the third re-release in the second half of this year. GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced for new consoles and PCs.
