Immortals Fenyx Rising: the game was born from an Assassin's Creed Odyssey bug

Expected for December 3, Immortals: Fenyx Rising was born from a bug in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey spotted during the development of the game. This is indeed what director Scott Phillips told our colleagues at Game Informer. “At the time, there was a bug which caused that when you were sailing aboard your trière, the members of the crew suddenly became Cyclops, he explained. We knew it was a glitch, but that’s when we were like, ‘Actually, it would be cool if we could go beyond the historical frame and go all the way into the mythology.’

It is true that Assassin’s Creed has always strived to remain faithful to the different periods it has tackled (the Crusades, the Italian Renaissance, the French Revolution, the American War of Independence among others), to offer the greater consistency possible. “We relied on Greek mythology, but within the limits set by the series, outbid assistant director Julien Galloudec about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For Immortals: Fenyx Rising, we reasoned in the opposite direction, namely that we wanted to make the most of Greek mythology.

This funny anecdote reminds us that the game is planned for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Stadia, and that post-launch content was recently announced.
