GTA Online (GTA:OG) Closed Due to Cheaters
On Friday, the 22nd, the team working on GTA:OG announced on Discord the shutdown of their servers. The decision was driven by the impossibility of dealing with certain exploits that compromised game security. Cheaters destroyed a great project, enabling owners of modded PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles to re-enjoy the original version of GTA Online, which slightly differed from the current versions and had its own unique features. It was a wonderful example of fan devotion that helped keep the multiplayer aspect from fading into oblivion.
Hence, GTA:OG did not even last six months — a milestone it could have reached around the beginning of April. The creators have decided not to release the source code publicly, but for those interested in experiencing the good old “Online”, they recommended another initiative named 3TA Online, which can be explored here.
