Only the whole category “Just communication” has more. Of course, the big merit in this result is not the story mode of the fifth part and not even GTA Online – all because of GTA 5 RP, in which players play a variety of roles, similar to real life.
Steam staff posted hit lists of the outgoing year… The “five” for the sixth year in a row (since 2016 – then for the first time they began to sum up such results) is included in such a “platinum dozen”. These are twelve games that have earned more than others, and this achievement has already been achieved thanks to “Online” and micropayment system, which players willingly fork out for. Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped out of the first dozen, which was at the end of 2020, but stayed in the second (gold). Also, a fifth of each year is in the top 12 most popular projects with the maximum number of players playing at the same time (more than 200 thousand). RDR 2 not represented in this category. But both flagships R * appear in the lists of “Best games with controller support”: platinum GTA, bronze “horse meat” – this is a repetition of last year’s results.
However, Grand Theft Auto is ranked highest not only in the charts, but also in the anti-charts. For example, metacritic named the worst games of the year according to critics, and the Switch version of the reissue of “Trilogy” took 6th place (the first, that is, the worst – eFootball 2022). The “final edition” on the hybrid console received 47 points out of 100 from reviewers. But, according to the idea, the PC version should also be in the top 10 worst, with an average of 49 points, because the tenth place was taken by a game with the same rating. The collection on the new generation of consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S) was able to overcome the critical mark – 55 and 56, respectively. The two remaining versions never got an average rating due to a lack of reviews. However, ordinary users of the site appreciated GTA: Trilogy – Definitive Edition even worse – four of its versions are included in the top 15 worst projects in the entire history of assessment. Even initial results worsened.
